The Importance Of Memories

I've learned a most valuable lesson this month, the lesson of preserving memories. Yesterday, I got news that a few years of my work and memories are lost forever. Putting things into perspective, I am thankful that we are alive and whole! I'm very much focusing on that, but the pain of the loss of all the precious memories I had captured and was going to make into books are not gone.

It makes me even more thankful that I blog. I post my work, my family and projects that I have completed. Despite the loss of the pictures I have them here and in the various blogs that I have. I now want to make sure I take the time to blog and get words together with images that creates a beautiful story!

Back to the Basics

I am trying to get back to the basics. Back to the heart of God, make Him the complete center of my life, career and relationships. He has always been my focus, but now I need to go deeper. I am in the season where I need to strip the busy title off myself and embrace freedom.

Embracing freedom sounds easy, but when work is something you love and truly enjoy you don't realize when it steals that freedom away. I need to be free to go on nature walks with my son and mom. I need to be free to take coffee dates with friends I hold dear and with friends I have yet to meet. Without freedom from my busy title those precious moments are only a vision that I see somewhere far in the distance.

People, I want to cross stitch! Who has time to sit down for a few hours to cross stitch when there is editing to be done, pictures to be taken, magazine articles to write and the list just goes on.

I am so ready for this new season as my Heavenly Father strips away all my desires to attain, to be someone and in return gives me true meaning through Him, through Christ and His word! I am not stepping away from everything. I'll still be taking sessions, running the Pursuit31 Seattle group and writing articles (only for a few magazines), but it will be all be limited and the time stealers will be eliminated. I am SO excited to see what God will give me this season as I seek Him every morning for being in His presence blessings follow, but that's not why I am doing this.

Aside from all of that, I left the house this afternoon after my God time and didn't return until 5 hours later to make dinner. It was glorious to be outdoors, exploring and photographing life as I live it.

The Traditional Image 2015

Every year we go to the same spot and take the same picture by the University of Washington. Well, I try to take the same picture, but I always have one excuse or another for not checking on how I actually take the same picture. This year, I had no reference point and took it too far away. One of these days I'll come prepared!

Aside from doing our annual image, I am changing some things around in my life so that I can slow down and not just work all the time. People are always telling me how 'busy' I am and I am over being 'busy' and unavailable. I've missed those years where I took my camera out and captured our days. Now I don't take my camera anywhere and I've even stopped taking pictures unless I have to. Its time for some rest and family reconnect! I'll be taking a break from many things and picking up things that I've let fall to the wayside.

It feels good to get back to the basics like restyling my home, making home cooked meals and taking more time out for family, friends and life.

So here's the images starting with 2010:
