Two Days Of Sunshine

The first day of summer was June 20th, but we've mostly had highs in the 60's with many days of rain. Not what I would ever call a summer especially since most states are in the 80's-100's.

The point of this post isn't to complain about the weather and how crappy summers have been, but it's to say that I'm putting my big girl pants on, not noticing the rain and I'll just be thankful for every sunny day that we get. The goal is, when a sunny day come I'll suck everything out of a it even though I'm finding myself indoors today wishing I was in bed.

I'm actually indoors today because I'm prepping for an article that I'm writing and I have an urge to cook and bake.

I guess after hanging out in the most yummiest french cafe's yesterday in Queen Ann I've not been able to shake my sweet tooth. Cafe De lion had the coolest cakes in a jar, totally my style. It was so good that when Augustin sat down to share a tiramisu with my mom he just eat the whole thing! Then he just spent the next hour on a crazy sugar high racing anyone who dared to run after him. At that moment I was thankful for a playground near by that he 'raced too'.

Honestly, I should be packing for a long weekend trip to California instead of blogging, so I'll make it short.

My in-laws will be coming to town next week. My dad will be here for 2 weeks and my mom will be here for 4 weeks. Depending on how things go I might blog frequently or I just might have to do once a week. I do have many fun things planned, which will be great.

Now the question is to pack now or to sleep now and pack in the morning?

A Day With Family

Today has been a great Sunday full of laughs, sunshine, and family. That's my favorite combination along with laughs, sunshine and shopping so you can image my smiles as I look back through the pictures from today.

I have an older brother Leo whom I like to call Dieter. I usually don't get to see him that often, but today we finally met up for lunch after church.

Dieter is that kind of guy who loves shopping, going out to eat, beautiful towns, sunsets, wine, great taste in things and is a helpless romantic. Before I was married he used to wine and dine me to show me how a man should treat me. He taught me many things my own father didn't. He told me that I, as a woman, need to take good care of myself and make sure I'm always looking my best. He is such a great guy with a big heart and lots of love to give.

So after church we went out to eat to one of his favorite mexican restaurants. The food was delicious and I totally see why he enjoys going there. I also found that the chips, guacamole and salsa together are like the greatest thing ever!

It was to heart warming to see him with my son. Toddler loved playing with his uncle and even gave him a good arm work out, but it's my brothers fault because he started it. I loved watching Dieter run after Toddler, prop him up on mailboxes so when he jumps he could catch him. You see my brother was an amazing father! He had boys and one of them was blonde like Toddler. I'm blessed to have my brother spend some time with my son.

The end of a beautiful day ended with Toddler wading in freezing cold water for about 10 minutes before he face planted into it, my brother went start in after him. The interesting part is Toddler dried his face and off he went back into the water like nothing ever happened. We went back to the car shortly after with Toddler insisting that he walked the whole way barefoot. I usually don't let him so this sort of thing, but Dieter said I had to loosen up and let Toddler live a little. I still think it was disgusting and guess who fell asleep in my bed with unwashed feet?!

Strawbabies

I took the day off today after sitting at my desk for almost 2 weeks straight to take my mom and son to the strawberry fields for some picking fun.

I've never gone strawberry picking before, but have always wanted to go. There somethings about eating strawberries that you hand picked yourself, they almost take better.

For the occasion I decided to put on a dress with some leggings which now I know wasn't the best idea because I kept on stepping on my dress as I got up to go to the next area.

When we got there I didn't think Toddler would be interested in picking strawberries. It looked a little boring for a 2 year old to really have fun. I actually regretted not taking my kindle to entertain him while my mom and I worked. To my surprise Toddler helped us pick the 'strawbabies', as he like to call them, but he also spent a lot of time bitting off the tops of them and then throwing the rest away. That's how he chooses to eat them and always has.

We loaded up 2 crates full of strawberries, bought a bumbleberry pie, had lunch and then went home to nap, but no one got to nap because Toddler now picks and chooses when he wants to nap. I still make him stay in his crib for about a 2 hour quite period. For some reason he loves his time in the crib and sang right through quite time.
