Monkey See, Monkey Do

It just amazes me how my son sees what I do and not what I say. I need to be reminded of that daily!

Like every mother out there I want my son to grow up the best person that he can be. I need to make sure that I'm doing what I'm telling him to do or else I'll be failing him. The thing that I've been focusing is cleaning up after himself. This one is especially hard for me to teach because in our family my husband puts aways his wet towels and socks. Yikes, that was a little embarrassing to share, but I need to start being better. Ever since I was a little girl I'd leave things around the house and everyone would yell at me to pick up after myself.

Guess whose cleaning their untidy bedroom tomorrow and it ain't Toddler.

Recap

It's been a while since I've written in here, but I've been restructuring some things and shifting my focus on more of what I love. I post daily on my other blog and the posts are more me. I haven't given this one up as it will be more of a family blog and client blog.

The past couple of weeks Toddler and I've been spending most of our days indoors due to the weather. We did have a few great adventures here and there, but they are rare. He's been growing up so much since we've gotten back from Europe. Right now we are in a season where going to nap or sleep is very hard. He will put up the biggest fuss even if he knows he needs that sleep.

My goal this week is to get his 2 yr-old pictures done and then post them because I really need to give this kid a hair cut.

Our Beautiful Love Day

Everyone has a love lanuage. Mine are quality time and gifts. My husband spoke both of my languages on Valentines day. He took me and our little family to Vancouver B.C and while we were there he bought us a pie! I honestly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful gift from him. If I was to grade him on his creativity and execution I'd give him an A+.

My favorite thing to do while in Vancouver is walk the waterfront with the view of the city in front of us. Add the sun, clouds full of charm, my family that's when magic happens for me where my heart explodes with joy and love.

I could walk around the waterfront all day long if I could. It makes me want to buy the 2 million dollar condo that are sold on the waterfront just so that I can wake up, grab some coffee with my bible and sit in front of the window staring at the view. Then I'd take Toddler to the park near by where they have some great swings that overlook the city. I have a whole day planned out in my mind already.

After our beautiful walk we went to an organic restaurant for an early dinner. I relished watching toddler make his daddy color with him and listening to his chatter as he pointed to random objects in the room. The food was delicious and the pie we bought home was gorgeous.

We ended the evening with a walk around the UBC campus and ice cream in another city by the water called White Mountain which reminded me of Alki or Cali beach towns.

He saw some kids standing like that and thought he'd do it too.

Something Pretty To Look At

I just love flowers. When I wake up in the morning and look at my night stand it make my day much happier when I see roses or in the bathroom, my desk, on the table and the places are limitless. I know some people don't care for them, but fresh flowers make my world a better place full of color, beauty and inspiration.

When I get flowers from hubby I just have to capture their beauty on camera. So when you see all my images of flowers, trees, and nature it's because I cannot keep away. It's what makes so much sense in my life.

These Precious Moments

It was a good day to unplug especially in the morning and focus on the things that matter most to me. After having that today I think I'll make a little more effort in spending time in an unplugged state. Instead of checking Facebook I read a good book. It's so much better and healthier for me, but seems so inconvenient sometimes. I'm also enjoying me new favorite magazine called Artful Blogging. There are some really beautiful images out there in the blogging world.

Honestly, I couldn't resist taking some beautiful images for my other blog. I do consider that a type of work because it takes away from my son. It's just whose I am and what's I do, lol.

Other then that we had a great time rolling around on the floor, using the potty, eating chocolate and now he's downing my tea (his 3rd cup today). Every moment spent with him today will forever be etched in my heart. I'm really enjoying this season because I know that soon he will be 5 yrs old and I don't want to have spent that time doing other things then giving him my love and attention.

I also got to sneak in a coffee date with a friend and a wonderful massage with the ever so great Shannon. You should check her out because I totally recommend her. Now that the evening for Toddler is up I think I'll enjoy some me time by planning a very exciting project that I have coming up in May.

The First Day

After a conversation with a friend from church about potty training I decided that it was time we start.... today! Toddler has been super easy to change one moment and a complete nightmare the next. For us, that's old enough for the potty.

Todays stats are 3/5. His reward? Straight up chocolate and lots of cheers. We are done for the night as we are currently taking a bath and are excited for more victories tomorrow. I'm hoping to have a potty trained toddler by the end of the week, that means I'll have a nakie toddler running around.

Besides that I started another blog today in case your interested. It's a blog with things that inspire me. Mostly pictures of flowers, pretty things and food photography. I'll let me creativity run wild there. Check it out Here.

Our Mornings in a Nutshell

This morning started with a meltdown over a diaper change that took longer then normal and ended with a time out. Its rough... but once that is out of the way prayers go out for no more meltdowns and they were answered!

Once the meltdown was out of the way giggles and smiles followed shortly.

Toddler decided that today's breakfast was going to be eaten on mommy's and daddy's bed. I had to put a stop to that soon after because he decided that the cereal should be dumped on the bed. That's when I go into time out for a little breather.

His famous Monkey boots make an appearance yet again!

I guess despite the roughness that comes in the mornings it's still a big favorite part of my day. I have a cute little kid cuddling with me, my desk is clean and waiting with flowers, coffee smell spills throughout the house and the promise of the day is grand.

I'm also very much excited about working on an article for possible publication and an inspirational shoot for possible print. There's lots to do, but the sun is shinning and I'm up for the tasks at hand.
