Sorry for this kind of nonsense post that you are about to get (it's pretty though), but that's what I have at the moment as we've pretty much been indoors all week as I bust out some editing deadlines for my clients.
Tin's been out and about with his grandma as she is kind enough to take him to parks while I edit and work away. Don't feel sorry for me as I am having a blast drinking my coffee, sketching out my book cover and making my workspace as pretty as possible. It really it al quite enjoyable to me. So here's the great news I've been dying to share, my kitchen is still clean!!! Yeah! Despite the working hours and other priorities I've managed to keep my kitchen clean for a whole week! People, this is a miracle right here. I just spend about 10 min here and there tiding up all the little messes 5 people can make, which can be a nice break from other tasks.
I'll be back next Tuesday or maybe even over the weekend with much for interesting things. Oh, tomorrow I'll be picking up my blogging friend and fellow photographer for a weekend road trip that just the two of us are making. I'm more excited for this trip than my trips to California, but that's just because doing road trips with a fellow creative friend is just too much fun!
I've been really working on changing my perspective and my focus knowing that I decide how my attitude is throughout the day. Today I decided to be happy, rain or shine.
So with a happy attitude I worked the day away. Nothing really happened today, but our little break we took to jump in the puddles in the middle of a heavy rainfall. It was refreshing to be soaking wet and not shiver to your bones, but actually be warm. This was the first time ever that I got to play in the warm rain and I'm so happy that Tin got to experience it at the age of 3.
We showered after filling out boots with water from the puddles and I went back to work.
Our second day of summer was just plain awesomeness! It was everything a summer day should have been.
The first things on my list today was sew my favorite little bunny for my friend's daughter's first birthday. It's by far the best little stuffed animal that I've personally enjoyed making and since I do not have a daughter yet all my friends who have girls get to get one at some point or another. After that was finished we headed to the park for the party. We, as a family, don't attend many birthday parties as we are a business family and have other priorities, but when we do get to go it's always so much fun! The weather was gorgeous and so warm, but not warm enough to get me out of my jeans.
After a wonderful party we got home past Tin's bedtime, but I decided he needed to nap anyway and put him to bed at 6pm for a short nap. While the men napped I made a very simple, but delicious summer dinner of salmon, quinoa & radishes from the yard (sick of hearing about my radishes yet). We got to enjoy the dinner in the yard before we headed off to Seattle for some yummy handmade ice cream at Molly Moon's & a walk around the neighborhood.
Today was like a day out of my dreams. My dreams are extravagant, but they are also as simple as today was. My heart is finally full and I am now start my summer without looking back on last year as it's a new year and new memories.
