Celebrating America

July 4th by far is my favorite holiday and then Christmas.

There is just something so magical to me when summer, good food, family/friends and fireworks meet. I have this dream July 4th celebration in my head that involves a beautiful house, hot weather, a ton of people and some expensive catering. Just thinking about it makes me giddy!

This July 4th was a good one, but sad one all at the same time. On Saturday I had 2 photo-shoots which kept me pretty busy and then on Sunday a church event where I also did the photography for. I love how my church celebrates the 4th!

After church we grabbed our bags, my mom and brother and headed off to my uncles orchards down in Yakima to pick some cherries. We only stayed there for one night though because that following morning I had a photo-shoot with one of my favorite clients.

While in Yakima we had a great time. Augustin got to run around with the big kids and do all the fun things we usually can't do at home to the limited amount of supervision and space. Let's just say that he was one happy kid especially since he went to sleep at 10pm!

The sad part was that happened that evening. My aunt went to go pick cherries all on her own using a 8 foot ladder. During the course of the evening I decided to take Babers and go help her out. After picking cherries for a little while she asked me to go back to the cabin to get something. I returned with the items, Baber, Hubby and my brother. Shorty after as I turned I witnessed her fall from the ladder landing on her hands. I was so shocked and pretty much didn't know what to do because I thought she could have hurt her neck or back. I told her NOT to move or for anyone to move her as I prayed over her and told hubby to go get my uncle. Long story short she broke both of her arms! The right arm broke into little pieces and need major surgery and the other just broke and still needs surgery. As of today she hasn't gotten the surgery yet due to horrible swelling.

Monday morning Bebers decided that 6am was a good time to get up while the whole house was asleep. We still had a couple of hours before we needed to leave so the three of us went to go pick some cherries. We got to see a hours close up, which was cool, but Bebers was scared of it. The open spaces did him good until he got put into timeout in a bucket. Then we made the 3hr drive home.

After much needed rest we went out for the evening to enjoy our fourth with some frozen yogurt and fireworks.

We are usually with my family during the fourth and they don't like the big shows so we haven't gone before until this year. I had a great time photographing the fireworks and Babers had a great time watching them.

Which brings us to today. It's all about cleaning and food! Since my mom is in Yakima with her sister I've been doing all the cooking and I'm loving it! It's one fancy dinner after another.

I'm thinking about starting a food blog or fan page... something along those lines, but so not sure. I just love talking about food and posting pictures.
