It was a very good day in many ways. First off was the news that we got our mortgage all straightened out. It's been months in waiting so it was much exciting news indeed. We still don't know when we get to actually live in our new place, but we are now closer.
One thing that changed me yesterday was the decision to be happy and thankful to a loving God even though things aren't just how I would like them. Yesterday my husband decided that Augustin and I would wait for him at the mall while he had a church meeting. Honestly, I wasn't thrilled about it. I would have rather been at home. Instead of being at home I was stuck at a mall and needing to entertain my kid. It wasn't my idea of a great time at the moment. After getting popsicles, walking around the park, waiting at the playground for ages and then at the bookstore even longer I knew this was not a good idea. But then something happened. I decided to have a heart change and instead be thankful and glad that I got to get out of the house and spend some fun time with my son at the mall doing all the things he loves to do. We ended the day with a phone game of 'Tickets to Ride' and hot choclate.
After that heart change my day was actually the best of days. I found the joy and blessings and then joy actually came to me. I really need to remember this lesson. I know that God looks at my heart. He looks at whether or not I choose to complain or be thankful. I get annoyed with my child for complaining, but I do it too. Actually this whole week has been a heart shift for me.
We also did other things throughout the day like give our dog a good wash for his grooming appointment. I also finished a cardigan and started a new project.
